14734Uzbekistan is planning to create a distinct tax system for citizens with high incomes. This was announced by the First Deputy Chairman of the Tax Committee, Mubin Mirzaev, during a press conference at the Agency of Information and Mass Communications (AOKA) on April 1.
Mirzaev highlighted that special measures for taxation have already been developed.
“We have created specific measures for collecting taxes from individuals with the highest income levels through segmentation. A comprehensive database will be established to prevent any individual from understating or altering their income to evade taxes,” said Mirzaev.
He also noted that developing the new electronic system will take approximately another year. The planned system will include the taxation of income earned not only within Uzbekistan but also abroad.
“If an Uzbek resident earns income abroad, they will need to pay taxes in Uzbekistan. Regarding non-residents, the Tax Committee will account for taxes paid abroad to avoid double taxation,” Mirzaev added.
According to the announcement, out of the country’s 38 million population, more than 18 million individuals earn income and are required to pay taxes.
It was previously reported that starting in 2027, income tax will be mandatory for artists in Uzbekistan.
