"Earthquake Preparedness Week" will be held across Uzbekistan from June 1 to 7 this year, as announced by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The aim of this week is to enhance seismic safety and improve the population's knowledge and skills on how to respond during an earthquake. Throughout the week, training sessions will be conducted in neighborhoods, schools, businesses, and other organizations to prepare for potential earthquakes.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has urged citizens to actively participate in these events.

Last month, Gulnoza Sharafova, head of the information service at the Academy of Sciences, warned that Tashkent city faces the risk of earthquakes with magnitudes of 6.5 or higher.
