7141Per capita income in Uzbekistan is projected to reach 3,000 dollars, a significant increase from 1,600 dollars in 2018. This announcement was made by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a meeting with the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on November 20.
Mirziyoyev highlighted that Uzbekistan’s economy has grown substantially, surpassing the historical milestone of 100 billion dollars. The World Bank has recognized that in 2024, Uzbekistan will be among the top three fastest-growing economies in Europe and Central Asia.
In addition, the poverty rate in the country has decreased from 23 percent to 11 percent over the past four years, and it is expected to fall further to 9 percent by the end of this year.
Exports have nearly doubled, exceeding 25 billion dollars for the first time, while gold-currency reserves have surpassed 40 billion dollars. The volume of foreign investments has increased sixfold, leading to the creation of 1.5 million high-income jobs. The share of investments in Uzbekistan’s gross domestic product now stands at 30 percent.
Earlier this month, the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Employment reported that the unemployment rate among the working population had decreased by 1 percentage point, from 6.8 percent to 5.8 percent, compared to the beginning of 2024.
