Uzbekistan has officially become a member of World Boxing, the global sports organization overseeing amateur boxing. The announcement was made at the World Boxing Federation International Congress, held in Colorado Springs, USA.

Alongside Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Guatemala, and Laos also joined the organization, which now has representation from 55 countries since its establishment in April 2023.

In October, World Boxing President Boris van der Vorst visited Uzbekistan’s National Olympic Committee, furthering discussions on international boxing development in the country.

Should the World Boxing Organization gain recognition from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), its member federations could have the opportunity to compete at the 2028 Olympics.
