During joint operations conducted by the State Security Service of Uzbekistan and the Federal Security Service of Russia, seven members of an international terrorist organization were detained in Russia and two in Uzbekistan. This was reported by the State Security Service.

According to the report, while in Russia, the detained individuals came under the influence of a religious extremist movement, participated in the activities of an international terrorist organization, and expanded its ranks by recruiting labor migrants from various countries.

They organized secret meetings and carried out systematic training and recruitment for the terrorist organization based on the doctrine of the so-called “global caliphate” via video conferences held on Telegram. Their activities were coordinated by ideological associates abroad.

Based on the collected evidence, the Investigative Committee of Russia initiated a criminal case against them for organizing and participating in the activities of a terrorist organization.

As a result of measures taken by the State Security Service in the Kashkadarya region, two more members of this group were detained. It was established that these individuals were also members of virtual groups created on Telegram by members of the underground community in Russia. They distributed materials imbued with the extremist ideas of the TTP and advocated for unconstitutional changes to the current political system.

During searches of their residences, four mobile phones, three pieces of extremist literature, two flash drives, and one SIM card belonging to a foreign country were seized as evidence and sent for examination to the relevant authorities.

It was reported that the detained individuals are currently under investigation, and pre-trial proceedings are underway.

It is worth noting that earlier, in the city of Andijan, the activities of a secret cell of a jihadist religious extremist movement were uncovered. The leader of the cell gathered 12 members, held meetings in various teahouses in the city, and planned to join the international terrorist organization “Tawhid and Jihad” in Syria.
