A joint investment platform between Uzbekistan and the United States is expected to be launched this year. This was announced by Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, on her Telegram channel.

Saida Mirziyoyeva, who is currently in the United States, held a meeting in Washington on April 7 with Ben Black, Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).

During the meeting, the main topic of discussion was a portfolio of major projects. In particular, it was agreed that the DFC would assist in attracting American investors to Uzbekistan and assume part of the investment risks.

For reference, the DFC is a U.S. government financial institution that supports investment and economic projects in developing countries. It has been providing financing for various projects in Uzbekistan, including renewable energy initiatives such as solar and wind power plants, as well as support for private entrepreneurship.

It is worth noting that on April 6 this year, the American-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council officially began its work in Washington. Its purpose is to create a strong institutional foundation for joint business initiatives. The event was attended by Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan; Sergio Gor, the U.S. President’s Special Representative for South and Central Asia; and Komil Allamjonov, counselor-envoy at Uzbekistan’s Embassy in the United States and the Presidential Administration’s representative in the country.

Earlier, it was reported that Saida Mirziyoyeva had met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio over a business breakfast. During the conversation, the meeting of the American-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council was discussed.
