Planned burning of reedbeds in the neutral zone along the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan border, specifically on small islands within the Amu Darya River, is currently underway. The Surkhandarya Regional Government reported the development.

This measure is being carried out to prevent the spread of harmful insects and infectious diseases. It is conducted with the necessary permissions and mutual agreements between responsible agencies. Authorities stated that the fire activities and their scale are under full control.
