Uzbekistan plans to double uranium production between 2022-2030 by up to 7.1 thousand tons per year.  This was determined in the decision of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev "On measures to increase the volume of uranium production and processing and transformation of the “Navoiyuran” state enterprise in 2022-2030".

The document confirmed the indicators of uranium mining and processing.  In particular, it is planned to increase the production volume from 3,526 thousand tons in 2021 to 7,1 thousand tons in 2030.

The document also confirmed the growth rate of uranium reserves from 4.7 thousand tons to 10.5 thousand tons between  2022-2030 due to the activation of geological exploration.

With the decision, a list of 20 investment projects with a total value of about 460 million dollars to increase uranium mining in the republic was approved.

According to the IAEA, Uzbekistan ranks seventh in the world in terms of uranium reserves and fifth in terms of extraction.  Uranium products are not used in the country and all uranium produced is exported.
