Uzbekistan has started importing electricity from Tajikistan

In the Surkhandarya region, a supply of additional electricity from Tajikistan has been launched to provide uninterrupted electricity to the population and social sector facilities.  This was reported by the Information Service of the Surkhandarya Regional Branch of "Regional Electric Networks".

It is noted that from 18 January 2023, 70% of the population of Shorchi, Altinsoy, Kumkurgan, and Jarkurgan districts of the region, 90% of the population of Bandikhon, Kyziriq, Sherabad districts, and Boysun, Sariosiyo, Uzun, Denov districts all consumers are supplied with 220 kV electricity from the Regar-500 substation of Tajikistan.  It is reported that this electric current is transmitted through L-Regar-Zarchop and L-Regar-Sherabad power transmission networks.

In case of an emergency shutdown of one of these networks, to maintain the energy system, electricity may be limited in the districts of the region based on a schedule.
