Uzbekistan reacted to the attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan reacted to the attack on the embassy of Azerbaijan in Tehran, the capital of Iran, and announced that it strongly condemns this situation.

“We express our deepest condolences to the relatives of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery.  We hope that after a thorough investigation of this incident, all those responsible will be brought to justice,” said the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Also, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and expressed deep sympathy for the Azerbaijani side.

It should be recalled that yesterday, 27 January at 08:30 a.m., an armed attack was carried out on the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Tehran.  The attacker was armed with a Kalashnikov assault rifle.  As a result of the accident, the head of the security service was killed, and two of his colleagues were injured.  The condition of the latter is considered satisfactory.  The Iranian police reported the arrest of a suspect in the attack on the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

Following that, the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, condemned the armed attack on the embassy, calling it an act of terrorism.  The press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Aykhan Hajizade, said that Azerbaijan wanted to evacuate the embassy staff after the armed attack.

Also, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahiyyan communicated by telephone with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov and stated that the attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran was used by the enemies of the two countries.
