During the event, Rafikov’s candidacy was nominated and unanimously approved by the delegates. The conference also reviewed Uzbekistan’s preparation plan for the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics, discussing opportunities for Uzbek athletes in swimming, water polo, diving, and synchronized swimming to secure Olympic qualifications.

From 1993 to 1998, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan and later chaired the Jizzakh Region Trade Unions Council from 1998 to 2003. He subsequently became the General Director of Jizzakh Battery Plant. In December 2016, Rafikov was appointed head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan, succeeding Tanzila Norboeva.

This appointment follows the recent election of Kuvondik Sanokulov as head of the Uzbekistan Handball Federation.
