Uzbekistan and Russia agree on migration cooperation

30551On May 27, Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and Vladimir Putin of Russia discussed migration cooperation during talks in Tashkent, resulting in an agreement on new collaborative mechanisms. This was announced by the press service of the Uzbek president.
"Cooperation in migration was a key topic of the discussions, leading to an agreement on effective mutual cooperation mechanisms," stated the President's press service.
President Putin assured that the Russian government would strive to provide suitable working conditions for Uzbek citizens in Russia.
"Over a million Uzbek citizens live and work in Russia, significantly contributing to our economy, particularly in sectors like construction, housing, transport, and logistics," Putin noted.
He also expressed hope that remittances from Uzbek workers would greatly benefit Uzbekistan's economy and support families across the country.
"The Russian government is committed to ensuring decent working conditions and social protection for Uzbek workers. We will maintain collaboration with the Uzbek government on all migration-related issues," Putin affirmed.
