Uzbekistan signs agreement on alliance relations with Azerbaijan

2556After the first session of the Interstate High Council, a ceremony for the signing of bilateral documents was held. This was reported by the President's press service.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, signed the Agreement on Alliance Relations and adopted the resolution of the first meeting of the Interstate Supreme Council.
The following documents were signed in the presence of the heads of state:
- Intergovernmental agreement on the protection of labor and rights of citizens;
- Cooperation program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs for 2025-2026;
- Practical action plan for the further expansion of trade, economic, and investment cooperation;
- Protocols on cooperation in the fields of preschool education, vocational education, secondary special, higher education, and science;
- "Roadmap" for cultural and humanitarian cooperation for 2024-2026;
- Action plan in the field of tourism for 2024-2026;
- Cooperation program for 2024-2026 between the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the State Agency for Citizen Services and Social Innovation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
- Memorandum on cooperation between the Center for the Training of Lawyers under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Academy of Justice of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
- Agreement on cooperation between the National Guard of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
- Protocol on cooperation between forensic expertise centers.
As part of the visit, cooperation agreements and other bilateral documents were also signed between Tashkent and Baku, Shahrisabz and Baylagan, and Jizzakh and Guba.
For reference, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev signed the declaration on alliance relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan on December 6, 2021, in the city of Nur-Sultan (now Astana). On April 18 of this year, during Shavkat Mirziyoyev's state visit to Tajikistan, a historic document was signed — the Treaty on Alliance Relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
