The 2024 ranking included 127 countries, with lower scores indicating fewer undernourished citizens. The study assessed four key indicators: underweight children, stunting, mortality, and malnutrition among children under 5 years of age.
Uzbekistan is one of 22 countries that scored less than 5 points, placing it among the top tier. According to the report, 6.5% of children under 5 in Uzbekistan are stunted due to malnutrition, 2.4% are underweight, and 1.3% die before reaching the age of five.
The ranking of other Central Asian republics is as follows:
- Kazakhstan: 5.3 points, 25th place
- Kyrgyzstan: 6.8 points, 36th place
- Turkmenistan: 9.5 points, 50th place
- Tajikistan: 13.7 points, 65th place

The top 10 countries without significant hunger issues include Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Croatia, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, and Kuwait. In contrast, South Sudan, Burundi, Somalia, Yemen, and Chad are listed as countries facing high levels of hunger.
Despite Uzbekistan's positive ranking, the data underscores ongoing challenges related to food insecurity among children under 5 years of age.
