Uzbekistan national team leaves for Mexico (video)

Uzbekistan’s national football team has departed for Mexico to play its first match at the World Cup. The Uzbekistan Football Association reported this.

Uzbekistan will play its opening World Cup match against Colombia on June 18 this year. The match will begin at 7:00 a.m. Tashkent time. After that, the national team will face Portugal in Houston on June 23 and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Atlanta on June 27.

If Uzbekistan finishes first in its group, it will face one of the possible third-placed teams from Groups D, E, I and J in the playoff stage. If Fabio Cannavaro’s team finishes second in the group, it will play against the runner-up from the group featuring England, Croatia, Ghana and Panama. If Uzbekistan advances to the playoffs from third place, the group winner from among the above-mentioned teams will become its opponent.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan national team player Jaloliddin Masharipov may miss the World Cup due to injury.
