Uzbekistan and China sign key agreements

Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks in Beijing, followed by a ceremony to exchange bilateral documents, the press service of the Uzbek president reported.

During the meeting, the parties signed:

  •  A cooperation program aligning Uzbekistan’s “Uzbekistan-2030” strategy with China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative;
  •  An agreement on establishing cultural centers in both countries;
  •  An agreement on cooperation in medical services.

Additional agreements reached during the visit include:

  •  The design of the second stage of a project to supply dredgers to Uzbekistan;
  •  Technical and economic cooperation;
  •  Cooperation in conformity assessment;
  •  Phytosanitary requirements for exporting Uzbek melons and almonds to China;
  •  Collaboration on the peaceful use of space science, technology, and results of space activities;
  •  Cooperation in competition policy;
  •  Strengthening cooperation in human resources development;
  •  Expanding ties in the digital economy;
  •  Establishing a partnership between Uzbekistan’s Samarkand region and China’s Tianjin city;
  •  Cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

Earlier, it was reported that Mirziyoyev held talks with Xi Jinping in Beijing with the participation of official delegations as part of his state visit to China. Discussions focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China and expanding practical cooperation in all areas.
