Estonian President praises Uzbekistan’s regional leadership and reforms

On April 16, 2025, Uzbekistan’s newly appointed ambassador to Estonia (with residence in Riga), Temur Rahmonov, presented his credentials to Estonian President Alar Karis. The news was reported by “Dunyo” information agency.

Following the official ceremony, President Karis expressed his high regard for the growing trade, economic, and cultural-humanitarian ties between Estonia and Uzbekistan. He also emphasized Estonia's interest in further enhancing cooperation in these areas.

Additionally, the Estonian President highlighted Uzbekistan’s emergence as a leading country in the region. He acknowledged Uzbekistan’s significant contributions to strengthening relations among Central Asian nations, particularly resolving longstanding border disputes.

“President Alar Karis confirmed Estonia’s full support for the extensive reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of our country’s president,” the statement said.

Background on the Ambassador: Temur Rahmonov was appointed as Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Riga on March 13, 2024. Before this role, he served as Uzbekistan’s consul general in Novosibirsk from 2021 to 2024.

Since his appointment, Rahmonov has presented credentials to Latvian President Edgars Rinkevichs on June 17, 2024; Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda on February 11, 2025; and Finnish President Alexander Stubb on April 1, 2025.
