Reports are circulating on social media that a 300 GB database allegedly belonging to “Uzbekistan Airways” is being sold on the darknet. Related images show that copies of passports of citizens from various countries have been posted on the mentioned site.

"Uzbekistan Airways" has issued a statement regarding the incident.

It was stated that no confirmed incidents of unauthorized access to information systems or disclosure (compromise) of personal data of passengers and employees have been recorded at present.

"All infrastructure is operating as usual. The examples cited in a number of publications as alleged proof of a data leak are unreliable and inaccurate. The information presented in those materials is not related to our information systems and, according to preliminary assessments, may have been artificially created or edited to create a false impression of an incident", said in a statement.

Nevertheless, “Uzbekistan Airways” announced that a service investigation is being carried out within the framework of existing procedures for responding to information security threats.

"Although no data has been compromised, the results will be used to further strengthen the level of protection in the future", the official statement said.
