Uzbek literature suffered a severe loss

Today, 30 January, children’s poet Adil Abdurahman died at the age of 80.  This was reported by the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan.

Odil Abdurahman (Odiljon Abdurahmanov) was born on 22 February 1943 in the village of Mamurabad, Kurgantepa district, Andijan region.  Between 1962-1969, he studied at Andijan State Pedagogical Institute.  He had been a member of the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan since 1978.

During his military service from 1965-1967, the collections “Happy Children” and “Hello, Sun” were published, telling the story of the poet’s childrens' life.  After that, he soon came to the attention of famous artists such as Abdulla Oripov, Vasit Sadulla, Qudrat Hikmat, Safar Barnoyev, Narimon Orifjanov.

Following this, his poetry and poems such as “Repair to the Moon”, “Happy Children”, “The Land of Uzbeks”, “The Rifle Didn’t Fire”, “Treasure of Azim’s Small Army”, “How the Wind Lives”, “Swing”  prose collections were published.

In recent years, the author had published a number of prose works for adults.  The short story “There is no death for lovers”, the novels “War and fate” and “You are my song” are among them.

Adil Abdurahman was awarded the “Veteran of Labor” badge in 2022.

“The team of the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan expresses their deep condolences to the family members and relatives of Adil Abdurahman on behalf of a large number of writers,” the report said.
