Most Uzbeks went to Tajikistan to study in 2024, new statistics revealed

In 2024, Tajikistan emerged as the top destination for Uzbek students, according to the latest data from the Statistics Agency.

From January to December 2024, a total of 35.9 thousand citizens of Uzbekistan went abroad to study. Of these, 12,809 chose Tajikistan, making it the most popular destination, followed by Russia with 8,629 students, and the Kyrgyz Republic with 3,953 students.

The breakdown of Uzbeks studying abroad in 2024 by country is as follows:

- Tajikistan: 12,809 people  
- Russia: 8,629 people  
- Kyrgyz Republic: 3,953 people  
- Turkey: 2,711 people  
- Republic of Korea: 2,077 people  
- Kazakhstan: 1,589 people  
- United Kingdom: 792 people  
- China: 767 people  
- United States: 576 people  
- UAE: 390 people  
- Other countries: 1,602 people  

It’s worth noting that in the first three quarters of 2024 (January-September), Tajikistan continued to be the leading destination for Uzbek students.
