In Kyrgyzstan’s Osh region, special services disrupted the activities of a smuggling group involved in illegally transporting mobile phones and prohibited drugs into Uzbekistan through unguarded sections of the border. This was reported by the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan.

“Searches were carried out at locations where the smuggled goods were temporarily stored, as well as at the homes of members of the criminal group. As a result, iPhones with unpaid customs duties and not properly registered in the Kyrgyz Republic, along with drugs prohibited from being imported into the country, were seized,” the statement said.

The report notes that the organizers and active members of the criminal group—identified as M.A.A., G.J.P., and M.O.Sh.—were detained and placed in the pre-trial detention center of the State Committee for National Security. The investigation is ongoing.

It is worth noting that earlier, a criminal group that organized a smuggling channel for powerful drugs into Uzbekistan was also detained in the city of Osh.
