Umurzokov met with Erdogan

Today, on 25 October, the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, received Sardar Umurzokov, the head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, in Ankara.

This was reported by "Anadolu" agency.

It is noted that the President did not give further information about the meeting which was held behind closed doors at his residence.

Turkey was the first to recognize Uzbekistan on 16 December 1991, and diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1992.  Relations have been developing rapidly in recent years.

It should be noted that there is a significant increase in trade between the two countries.  In particular, the exchange of goods increased by more than 60 percent last year.

The number of joint ventures has exceeded 2 thousand.  In the last period of this year alone, investments worth half a billion US dollars have been absorbed.

Turkish companies are very interested in participating in the process of privatization of state-owned enterprises in Uzbekistan.

On 11 November this year, the first summit of the Organization of Turkic States will be held in Samarkand.
