A 19-year-old Uzbek citizen died in a fire in the Kadikoy district of Istanbul, Turkey. This was reported by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul.

It was noted that on April 24 of this year, the Consulate General, in cooperation with the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, returned the body of the deceased citizen to Uzbekistan. The fire, which broke out for unknown reasons, occurred in a rented house located in the Fikirtepa area of the Kadikoy district of Istanbul.

All expenses related to sending the body to Uzbekistan were fully covered by the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

It was also reported that some individuals are spreading false and unfounded information on social networks, claiming that money is being collected to send the deceased back to Uzbekistan. The Consulate General urged citizens not to believe such false reports and to rely solely on official sources.

“Taking this opportunity, the Consulate General announces that, in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 252 ‘On Measures to Further Improve the System of Organized Employment of Citizens of Uzbekistan Abroad’, adopted yesterday, the state will now cover the costs associated with the repatriation of the bodies of citizens of Uzbekistan who die abroad,” the statement said.

It should be recalled that earlier, in the Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation, an 11-year-old boy whose parents died in a road accident involving two cars was returned to Uzbekistan.
