Plans are underway to extend the Tashkent metro to the Tashkent Tractor Plant, with the project set to be implemented in two stages. This development was announced on May 19 as part of a presentation to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on upcoming metro expansion projects in the capital.

During earlier discussions, the President had instructed officials to optimize the project for both cost-efficiency and public convenience. Based on a revised proposal, the extension will be carried out in two phases. In the first stage, a surface-level metro line will be built parallel to the existing railway, connecting Pushkin station on the Chilonzor line to the village of Feruza in the Mirzo Ulugbek district. In the second stage, the route will be extended from there to the Tashkent Tractor Plant’s Dakha Shah station.

Currently, approximately 47,000 vehicles and a total of 194,000 passengers travel daily from this direction into the city center. The new metro route is expected to serve up to 85,000 passengers per day, significantly reducing road congestion and improving urban mobility.

The presentation outlined the technical and practical aspects of the proposed route in detail.

The metro system plays a vital role in Tashkent’s public transportation network. In recent years, efforts have been made to enhance passenger convenience through the construction of new lines. The Yunusabad line has been extended to Turkestan station, and the Chilonzor line now reaches the Sergeli district. Under the President’s initiative, the city also saw the construction of its first underground ring line, connecting Dustlik station to Sergeli. These new routes have improved connectivity across the Yunusabad, Yashnabad, Bektemir, Mirabad, Sergeli, and Yangihayot districts, easing the daily commute for thousands of residents.

It is worth noting that according to the original project reviewed by the President in March, a total of 10 stations were planned from the Buyuk Ipak Yuli station to the Tashkent Tractor Plant. That earlier plan aimed to serve 30 neighborhoods and cover a population of 148,000.
