The government of Uzbekistan is planning to construct a new road between Tashkent and Charvak. This was announced on August 1 by Minister of Transport Ilhom Mahkamov in an interview with Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.
Following the presentation of several projects to the President, the Minister spoke about plans to improve transport access to the Charvak-Chimyan recreational zone, which encompasses the Tashkent region, Tashkent city, and Syrdarya region.
“Recently, very large investments have been made, and this road is developing in terms of tourism. Today, our existing road is heavily congested. The decision was made by our esteemed President,” said Ilhom Mahkamov.
According to the Minister, the project concept has already been submitted, and the work will be carried out on a competitive basis, in collaboration with leading companies and within the framework of a public-private partnership.
“We will also begin the construction of the new Tashkent–Charvak highway without affecting the existing road,” he added.
As a reminder, on August 1, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on major projects in the transport sector and announced plans for a new international airport in the Tashkent region.
