On September 11, Presidential Decree No. 274 “On the establishment of the ‘ToshTech’ Technical University in Tashkent” was adopted.

According to the decree, the university will operate independently in academic, financial, organizational, and administrative spheres. Beginning from the 2025–2026 academic year, a one-year preparatory course financed from the state budget will be introduced.

Bachelor’s degree programs will commence in the 2026–2027 academic year, while master’s and postgraduate programs will be gradually launched starting from 2027–2028.

The university will provide education in both state and foreign languages, on a state grant and tuition-based system. Students admitted before the 2029–2030 academic year will be fully funded by the state.

For reference, by the start of the 2024–2025 academic year, the number of higher education institutions in Uzbekistan reached 222—an increase of 153 compared to the 2015–2016 academic year. Over the past decade, this figure has grown by nearly 3.2 times: in 2015 there were 69 higher education institutions, in 2018 the number rose to 98, in 2022 to 191, and in 2024 to 222.

It is worth noting that earlier, it was announced that the Tashkent Medical Academy, the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute, and the Tashkent State Institute of Dentistry would be merged into the newly established Tashkent State Medical University.
