A person who took out an online loan in someone else's name was apprehended in Tashkent. The Cyber Security Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that 61-year-old Sh.O., a resident of Mirabad district, reported an online loan issued in his name without his knowledge.
Following swift investigative efforts by the cyber security units, 39-year-old S.A., a resident of Yakkasaray district, was identified as the perpetrator. S.A. obtained Sh.O.'s personal information by sending a fake SMS link, registering for an online loan of 30 million soums in Sh.O.'s name, and transferring the funds to his own bank card.
The Cyber Security Center stated that a criminal case has been initiated under Article 169 (theft), part 3, paragraph "b" of the Criminal Code. Urgent investigations are ongoing to determine S.A.'s potential involvement in other similar crimes.
