Teacher receives 10-year sentence for fraudulent admission promises

In Tashkent, a teacher who accepted $13,000 to secure a student's admission into a medical institute has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, according to the Capital’s Main Department of Internal Affairs.

Authorities revealed that A., a teacher at one of Tashkent’s educational institutions, deceived a student named B., promising admission into university in exchange for $8,000.

After the fraud was exposed, A. was initially sentenced to 2 years and 6 months of restricted freedom under fraud charges.

However, the individual did not learn from past mistakes and later persuaded another student, M., that he could secure their admission into Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute, demanding a total of $18,000 in bribes.

On August 7, 2023, A. was caught accepting $13,000 from student D., leading to his arrest.

The Uchtepa District Criminal Court conducted an open hearing, ruling that S.A., born in 1982, had committed crimes under Article 168, Part 4(a) (fraud) and Article 211, Part 3(a) (bribery) of the Criminal Code. As a result, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
