Tashkent road patrol officer injured in intersection accident

A road patrol officer was hit by a Tracker vehicle while regulating traffic at an intersection in Tashkent, according to the capital’s Department of Internal Affairs.
On April 23, at dawn, Sergeant Toshtemirov Arman, an inspector from the Tashkent City DIA Traffic Patrol Service, was performing his duty at the intersection of Durmon Yuli and Mirzo Ulugbek streets when he was struck by a Tracker-brand vehicle.
The injured officer was taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with:
- Multiple abrasions on both arms;
- Multiple fractures in the left pelvic bone;
- Soft tissue injuries in the left knee and leg.
The officer stated that traffic congestion was minimal, and he stepped into the intersection center to assist in easing the flow. He added:
"I positioned myself at a suitable location in the intersection… I’m not sure whether the vehicle came from the fourth or third lane, but a Tracker-brand car struck me."
Authorities confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, and a legal decision will be made following the preliminary inquiry.
Earlier, in Yakkasaroy district, a driver who dragged a traffic officer on the hood of his car was sentenced to 15 days in detention.
