Prosecutor’s assistant in Tashkent detained for bribery (video)

An assistant to the prosecutor of Uchtepa district in Tashkent has been detained on suspicion of bribery, the State Security Service reported.

According to the statement, during an operation it was established that the official, who had served as an assistant to the Shaykhontohur district prosecutor until September 2025 and is currently an assistant to the Uchtepa district prosecutor, abused his official position. He allegedly demanded $15,000 from a sole proprietor, claiming he could arrange the lease of non-residential basement premises in two residential buildings located in Shaykhontohur district.

The suspect was apprehended with material evidence while attempting to flee the scene after receiving the agreed sum in his personal vehicle.

A criminal case has been opened against the prosecutor’s assistant by the Tashkent City Prosecutor’s Office under Article 168, Part 3, Clause “v” of the Criminal Code (Fraud). A pre-trial detention measure has been applied.

Earlier, it was reported that the head of the Preschool and School Education Department in Jizzakh had also been detained on suspicion of bribery.
