In Tashkent, persons who were transporting an endangered European deer in a car without documents, were found.  This was reported by the Ministry of Natural Resources.

On 10 January of this year, it was discovered that citizen, X.J., attempted to transport a European deer in a motor vehicle without relevant documents.

During the investigation, citizens B.L. and his partner X.J., who said that they were the owners of the European deer, failed to provide relevant documents at the scene of the incident.

Therefore, until this situation is clarified, the European deer was transferred to the Tashkent Zoo for temporary keeping.

"This species is included in Appendix 1 of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).  Appendix 1 of CITES includes endangered species of animals and plants.

It is noted that the commercial export, re-export, and import of these species are prohibited.  Export of Appendix 1 specimens requires both an export and import permit from CITES.

For reference, the length of the European deer reaches 130-175 cm, the weight of males is from 65 to 110 kg, and females are from 45 to 70 kg.  This animal differs from the red deer in its shorter neck and legs, as well as its muscular body.
