3512On October 10, 32 individuals involved in the distribution of narcotic drugs were arrested in Tashkent as part of a city-wide campaign to combat the illegal circulation of narcotics and psychotropic substances. The arrests were confirmed by the city's General Department of Internal Affairs.
The suspects for their practice of concealing drugs in hidden locations, are facing charges under Article 273, Part 5 of the Criminal Code. This article covers the illegal preparation, acquisition, storage, and transfer of narcotic drugs, their analogues, or psychotropic substances. Criminal cases have been initiated, and the suspects have been placed under preventive detention pending further investigation.
The ongoing investigation will determine the full extent of their activities. According to Article 273, those found guilty of these crimes could face up to 20 years in prison.
The campaign, organized by the General Department of Internal Affairs, runs until October 20. It’s worth noting that earlier arrests included drug couriers from Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, with a total of 47.2 kilograms of narcotics seized from these operations.
