A man who took a woman and her daughter hostage in Tashkent, threatening to kill them, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, as reported on the "Bu Kun" information program.

The incident took place in the Mirabad district of Tashkent, involving a man born in 1979 who had frequent arguments with his wife.  According to the victim, her husband consistently demanded money from her, resorting to violence by choking her if she refused.  The victim stated, "He would come home drunk, kick the doors, and slam my head against the wall.  When I tried to defend myself, he cut my hand." Faced with this situation, the woman contacted the Ministry of Internal Affairs, leading to the rescue of her and her daughter by law enforcement officers.  The man's sentencing took place in the Mirabad district court for criminal cases.  During the court proceedings, the accused fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse for his actions, stating, "I confess my guilt.  I did it to frighten you.  Our children are from different fathers, and I apologize to my wife.  I have no place to call home."  The man was found guilty under sections "a" and "b" of Article 245 of the Criminal Code, specifically for holding a person hostage, resulting in a 10-year prison sentence.
