A 26-year-old man has been detained in Tashkent for posting fake advertisements for dacha rentals on social media and defrauding at least 15 citizens. The incident was reported by the Tashkent City Main Department of Internal Affairs.

According to officials, the suspect uploaded photos of dachas belonging to other people and offered them for rent at low prices. Citizens who believed the ads transferred money but were later unable to reach him.

One such case occurred on June 22, when a citizen reported to the Tashkent City Department of Internal Affairs that he had transferred 1.4 million soums to an unknown individual for a dacha rental. After receiving the payment, the suspect cut off contact and disappeared.

During an operation conducted by the Department for Combating Information Technology Crimes, the suspect was identified and detained. The investigation revealed that he had used this method to deceive citizens in at least 15 separate cases.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 4 of Article 168 of the Criminal Code (fraud). Procedural actions are currently underway, and the investigation is ongoing.

Authorities remind citizens that the Tashkent Regional Main Department of Internal Affairs previously issued a warning urging people not to rush into making advance payments for guest houses or rentals found online.
