Over the past two years, 2.8 trillion soums have been allocated to enhance the electricity supply in the capital. This was reported to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on August 8 during a presentation on measures to ensure the stability of Tashkent’s energy system.
The Minister of Energy outlined district- and neighborhood-level plans for modernization. In the first stage this year, 374 kilometers of power networks, 11 substations, and 62 transformers are scheduled for upgrades. Next year, work will continue with the modernization of 788 kilometers of networks, 35 substations, and 145 transformers. This includes repairing and replacing transformers and installing new equipment in residential neighborhoods.
The President stressed the limited time before the autumn-winter season and instructed that this year’s plan be completed by November 1.
Officials also briefed the head of state on projects in the field of nuclear energy. The President ordered the commissioning of all planned facilities in line with quality standards and deadlines, and called for the creation of sustainable energy capacity. The Cabinet of Ministers was tasked with reviewing measures to improve energy efficiency on a weekly basis.
Earlier, Deputy Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Agrarian, Water Management and Ecology, Sayyora Abdukarimova, submitted a senatorial inquiry to Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamahmudov, requesting clarification on the frequent power outages in Tashkent.
