2607A person who promised to send people on the Hajj pilgrimage and took $27,200 from four individuals was detained in the Mirabad district of Tashkent. This was reported by the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the capital.
It was noted that a case of fraud involving the illegal organization of Hajj pilgrimages was uncovered in the Mirabad district of Tashkent. An unofficial employee of the Mahdiy Travel limited liability company offered to send clients of the tour company on the blessed Hajj pilgrimage using a working visa. During an operation conducted jointly by officers from the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, and the Mirabad district department of the State Security Service, this individual was detained with material evidence while fraudulently receiving $27,200 from clients in advance in exchange for preparing visa documents for Saudi Arabia and organizing the pilgrimage.
“I advertised on Instagram to send people on the Hajj pilgrimage. Four people saw the ad and contacted me. When I received amounts ranging from $6,800 to $27,200 from these four citizens, it became a problem. I knew that only the state is authorized to send people on the Hajj pilgrimage. I want to tell others who are working in this field and sending people on the Hajj — this is the wrong way,” the suspect said.
It was reported that a criminal case has been initiated against him under Article 168 (Fraud), Part 4, Clause “a”, and Article 211 (Bribery) of the Criminal Code. A precautionary measure in the form of arrest has been applied to the accused. An investigation is currently underway.
It should be recalled that earlier, the State Security Service had taken measures to restrict the activities of individuals illegally organizing Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages in the Fergana, Syrdarya, and Kashkadarya regions, as well as in the city of Tashkent.
