Land allocated for 40 micro hydropower projects in Tashkent region

A total of 6.59 hectares of land in 40 non-agricultural state reserves across the cities and districts of the Tashkent region have been allocated to the Ministry of Energy for the construction of micro hydroelectric power plants. The regional administration reported that the land is granted with the right of permanent use.
To identify project developers for these micro hydroelectric facilities, the allocated land plots will be offered through public auctions.
The power plants are planned to be built in the districts of Piskent, Ahangaran, Bekabad, Yukori Chirchik, Bostanlyk, Kibray, Chinaz, Buka, Yangiyul, and Zangiota, as well as in the cities of Angren, Almalyk, Bekabad, and Chirchik.
According to officials, a corresponding resolution has been signed by the regional administration to allocate land for the construction of a total of 43 micro hydroelectric power plants in the region. So far, 264 specific sites have been identified, and land has already been allocated for 102 of them. Construction work has commenced in several areas.
It is worth noting that in a recent report presented to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on progress and upcoming projects in the energy sector, it was announced that Uzbekistan plans to build 1,185 micro hydropower plants nationwide this year, with a total capacity of 65 megawatts.
