A woman has been arrested in the Tashkent region for attempting to send a 33-year-old woman to Moscow for prostitution, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

According to the ministry, during an operational operation, a 1990-born resident of Yangiyul city deceived a 33-year-old woman from the Sergeli district—whom she knew personally—by promising her easy earnings. She was caught red-handed at Tashkent International Airport while trying to send the woman to Moscow, Russia, for prostitution.

A criminal case has been initiated against the suspect under Article 135 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (human trafficking). Investigative procedures are currently ongoing.

For reference, individuals convicted of human trafficking may face up to 5 years of restriction of liberty or up to 15 years of imprisonment.

It should be recalled that in an earlier incident, a 53-year-old woman was caught at Tashkent International Airport attempting to send three women, aged 31, 23, and 18, to Thailand for prostitution. A criminal case has also been opened against her under Article 135.
