Three minors drowned in a pond in the Parkent district of the Tashkent region. This was reported by the press secretary of the Prosecutor General's Office, Hayot Shamsutdinov.

The incident occurred on June 14 in the Parkent district. The children had gone to swim in a pond that had formed in the dried-up bed of the Parkentsoy River, which flows through the district. While swimming, three children drowned and died. Pre-investigation measures have been initiated in the case.

The investigation revealed that the relevant authorities had failed to install warning signs at the 20x40 m pond formed along the Parkentsoy canal, which is approximately 2 meters deep. They also did not carry out awareness-raising work among the population or take steps to eliminate the artificially formed pond.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 116 (failure to perform professional duties) and Article 207 (negligence) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.

It is worth noting that earlier, two students from School No. 6 in the Pakhtachi district of the Samarkand region also drowned.
