Nearly 9 kg of drugs found in driver’s car in Tashkent region

A man carrying nearly 9 kilograms of narcotic drugs in the trunk of his car was detained in Tashkent region. The State Security Service reported the case.

According to the report, a Tracker vehicle travelling on the Tashkent-Fergana route was stopped at a road patrol checkpoint.

The vehicle was driven by a resident of Fergana, born in 1990, who had previously been convicted under Article 166 of the Criminal Code, which covers robbery. During an inspection of the car in the presence of witnesses, 1.72 grams of narcotic drugs allegedly kept by the driver for personal use were found inside the vehicle. A further inspection revealed 8 kilograms and 913 grams of hashish in the trunk.

A pre-investigation inquiry found that the man had received the drugs after they were smuggled into Tashkent region from a neighbouring country by drug couriers and was travelling to his permanent place of residence.

A criminal case has been opened against him.

Earlier, it was reported that a man had been detained in Fergana region while allegedly attempting to sell more than 2 kilograms of hashish and 5,600 psychotropic pills smuggled from Kyrgyzstan.
