On 15–16 November this year, Tashkent will host the 7th Central Asia Leaders’ Consultative Meeting, chaired by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the press service of the Uzbek leader reported.
The summit will bring together President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedow of Turkmenistan, President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, as well as Kaha Imnadze, head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.
The agenda will focus on strengthening regional cooperation in Central Asia, implementing joint projects and initiatives in priority sectors, and exchanging views on pressing regional and international political issues.
The consultative meeting is expected to result in the adoption of a substantial package of multilateral documents.
The initiative to hold regular consultations among Central Asian leaders was proposed by the President of Uzbekistan in September 2017 during the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.
During Uzbekistan’s chairmanship in this format, more than 20 major events covering various areas of cooperation have been organized.
It is worth noting that due to a series of major international events in Tashkent from 14 to 17 November, traffic on some streets of the capital will be partially restricted at times, with alternative routes arranged for vehicles.
