A new deputy has been selected to serve under the mayor of Tashkent

Durdona Rahimova has been chosen as the deputy mayor of Tashkent, responsible for youth policy, social development, and spiritual and educational matters, according to a statement from the city administration.

Previously, Rahimova held the position of Deputy Minister of Youth Policy and Sports.

Born on June 8, 1989, in Tashkent, Durdona Shukurullayevna Rahimova holds a degree. Her career began in 2012 as the head of the department for talented youth and young scientists at the Jizzakh Regional Council of the "Kamolot" youth social movement. She later served as chairwoman of the Tashkent City Council of the Youth Union. In December 2019, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev suggested appointing a woman as the mayor of a district in the capital as an experiment, following Rahimova's advocacy.

In March 2020, Rahimova assumed the role of deputy mayor of Tashkent, focusing on youth policy, social development, and spiritual and educational affairs. Then, in January 2023, she was appointed Deputy Minister of Youth Policy and Sports.

It's worth noting that Rustam Gafurov was previously appointed as the governor of Kitob district in Kashkadarya region.
