Air pollution in Tashkent exceeds safe levels by 11 times

2331Today, October 22, the concentration of PM2.5 particles in Tashkent's air surpassed the World Health Organization (WHO) safety standards by almost 11 times, according to data from the real-time monitoring portal, IQAir.
Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, ranked 6th among the world's major cities in terms of air pollution levels. At around 14:00, the concentration of PM2.5 particles in the air reached 59 μg/m³—11.6 times higher than the average air quality limit recommended by the WHO.
Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities unless necessary, especially those with chronic respiratory conditions, who should wear medical masks for protection.
Under these conditions, it is essential to take precautions upon returning indoors, such as thoroughly washing your face and hands, minimizing dust accumulation, keeping doors and windows tightly closed, and cleaning surfaces with a damp cloth several times a day.
