On August 17, Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, was ranked second among the world’s major cities for air pollution. This information was published on the real-time IQAir portal.

At around 6:00 p.m., the concentration of fine PM2.5 particles in Tashkent’s air was measured at 60.5 µg/m³, which is 12.1 times higher than the average air quality index recommended by the WHO.

Residents are advised to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary. Those with chronic respiratory conditions are encouraged to use medical masks.

In these conditions, it is recommended to wash your face and hands thoroughly after returning home from outdoors, prevent dust accumulation in living spaces, keep doors and windows tightly closed, and clean surfaces with a damp cloth multiple times a day.
