According to data from the IQAir portal, Tashkent has been ranked as the most polluted city in the world today, December 27.

As of 08:48, Tashkent claimed the top spot on the Air Quality Index (AQI), surpassing Delhi, which ranked second. Lahore in Pakistan took third place, followed by Wuhan in China in fourth.

The AQI determines air quality levels based on pollution units, dividing them into six categories represented by colors:

  • Green (0-50): Good air quality
  • Yellow (51-100): Moderate, slightly hazardous
  • Orange (101-150): Unhealthy for sensitive groups
  • Red (151-200): Unhealthy
  • Purple (201-300): Very unhealthy
  • Maroon (301+): Hazardous

Tashkent’s rise in pollution highlights growing environmental concerns as winter conditions exacerbate air quality issues.
