Young girls aged between 19 and 21 have been detained for distributing the materials of the terrorist organization banned in Uzbekistan, the State Security Service reported.

According to the report, a group of girls born between 2004 and 2006 had opened a Telegram channel under the guise of religious curiosity and spread audio-video materials and da’wah calls belonging to such terrorist organizations banned in Uzbekistan as the “Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant” and “Islamic Movement of Turkistan”. They had also carried out their da’wah calls in other closed groups.

“These young girls poisoned with extremist ideologies have taken mottos like jihad, hijrah, and shaheed (martyr) as their life purpose and mutually exchanged ideas in joining the bloody battles in Syria. Besides that, they had also created personal accounts on Instagram, spreading banned materials and attempting to attract more followers among the youth”, said a report.

It is stated that these girls have been apprehended in a joint swift operation conducted by the State Security Service and law enforcement agencies, with legal actions taken against them.

Earlier, the international terrorist organization’s seven members in Russia and two in Uzbekistan were arrested in operations held jointly by the State Security Service of Uzbekistan and the Federal Security Service of Russia.
