A Criminal Case was Opened Against Officials who Neglected Historical Objects

A criminal case has been initiated against officials who damaged the archeological monuments in the Akkurgan district of the Tashkent region, as reported by the Press Service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

According to reports, a private enterprise was granted a long-term lease for 16 hectares of the archaeological monument "Shahrukhiya shahristan" in the "Hasildor" neighborhood of Akkorgan district, which violated the requirements of the law.  Consequently, unauthorised excavations were carried out on the site, resulting in significant damage amounting to 315 million soms to this historical object.  

Furthermore, officials from the construction and cadastral department in Aqqorgan District unlawfully permitted the construction of a water structure on a 0.4 - hectare land area of the archaeological monument "Kiyritepa" situated in the "Hamid Olimjon" neighborhood.  The incurred damage amounted to a substantial sum of 180 million soms.  

As a result of the investigation, a criminal case has been initiated against the responsible officials and others involved, and investigative efforts are currently underway.
