19256Italian football club AS Roma is reportedly considering appointing former Spanish international and current Como head coach Cesc Fabregas as its next manager. The news was shared by "Sky Sport Italia".
According to the report, the Roman club is evaluating multiple candidates for the head coach position. Alongside Fabregas, the shortlist includes Ajax boss Francesco Farioli, Genoa manager Patrick Vieira, and current Al-Nasr head coach Stefano Pioli.
Veteran coach Claudio Ranieri, who is currently in charge of Roma, is expected to step down at the end of the season. He is set to remain with the club in a leadership role within the management structure.
Fabregas, 37, began his coaching career in 2023 with Como’s U-19 team. He later served as assistant coach and interim head coach of the senior team before being officially appointed as Como’s head coach in 2024.
There have also been media reports linking former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag with a potential move to Roma, though no formal negotiations have been confirmed.
The appointment of a new manager could directly impact the role of Uzbek striker Eldor Shomurodov, who remains part of Roma’s roster.
