Tashkent Region Governor Zoir Mirzaev linked the rise in cancer cases among women to their failure to bake bread in tandoors. He made the remarks during a community meeting in one of the local neighborhoods.

According to Mirzaev, one of the factors contributing to the increase in cancer among women is their not baking bread in traditional tandoors.

“When visiting neighborhoods, we observe that many homes do not have tandoors. People don’t bake bread. In the past, we used to make it beautifully, mixing maize and black wheat to produce black bread—it was different. We even taught the housewives to make it properly,” he said. Mirzaev added that during his tenure in Samarkand, a Korean doctor analyzed the reasons behind the rise of cancer among women and identified several factors, with low physical activity ranking first.

He explained that women who bake bread in tandoors are less likely to develop cancer.

“When standing by the tandoor, the body warms up, blood circulation doubles in speed, which helps cleanse the blood vessels. If blood is polluted, microbes can attach to certain glands, gradually causing them to become active in harmful ways,” Mirzaev noted.

Earlier, it was reported that Zoir Mirzaev had been appointed as the deputy in charge of rural and water management issues in Toshkent Region.
