Traffic on the Takhtaqoracha Pass, which runs through the Urgut district of Samarkand region, was temporarily restricted starting at 9:30 p.m. on January 16. The regional Road Traffic Safety Department reported the closure.

According to the statement, snowfall was observed on the Takhtaqoracha Pass section of the M-39 Almaty–Bishkek–Tashkent–Shahrisabz highway, which passes through the district. As a result of a sharp drop in air temperature, the surface of the roadway became icy.

“In light of these conditions, traffic along the Urgut–Kitob direction of the Takhtaqoracha Pass has been temporarily restricted in order to prevent traffic accidents involving vehicles and to ensure road safety,” the statement said.

Drivers have been urged to comply with the established restrictions when traveling along this route, use alternative roads, and strictly observe traffic safety regulations.

Earlier, it was reported that an agreement was planned to be signed for the construction of a toll tunnel passing through the Takhtaqoracha Pass.
